Relational memory or the ability to make arbitrary associations between information and context is critical for many common tasks. While it has been established that sleep after learning bolsters relational memory there has been increasing interest in understanding how sleep or the lack thereof before learning impacts relational memory. This talk will explore the effect of sleep deprivation during learning on relational memory and will propose a framework to guide future research on this topic.
