Miranda Chappel-Farley is an outdoor recreation enthusiast and sleep neuroscientist. She graduated from UMass, Amherst in 2017 with a BS in Psychology. She then worked as a postbaccalaureate fellow at NINDS. As a graduate student in the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior at UC Irvine, she studied how physical activity and sleep interact to impact brain network dynamics and memory consolidation. She received her PhD in December 2023, and has since started as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Pittsburgh. By combining neuroimaging techniques, physiological measurements, and behavioral assessments, her research aims to determine the mechanistic role of sleep and other lifestyle factors in brain dynamics and memory function, with the ultimate goal of developing lifestyle interventions to delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
